Wafer-thin laminates of porcelain are bonded to the front teeth. Veneers are also suitable for teeth that are too short or worn, or to close gaps in teeth. Certain colourings or stains on teeth which cannot be removed by professional dental cleaning or by bleaching can be covered by a veneer without losing a substantial amount of tooth substance.
The greatest advantage lies within the ceramic material itself, which can be coloured both inside and out and is naturally transparent. Therefore the colour can be adjusted as required and the porcelain laminates conform to the adjacent teeth under all lighting conditions. The surface and the colour also do not change with the passing of time. Plaque finds it very difficult to attach itself to the extremely hard surface, so the gums around the veneers are always very healthy. Full ceramics enable this treatment to be used for people who suffer from a metal allergy.

Teeth that are chipped or broken
Large, ugly fillings
Teeth that are discolored -- either because of root canal treatment; stains from tetracycline or other drugs, excessive fluoride or other causes; or the presence of large resin fillings that have discolored the tooth
Teeth that are misaligned, uneven, or irregularly shaped (for example, have craters or bulges in them)
Teeth with gaps between them (to close the space between these teeth)
